MiPACS Device Compatibility & Vendor Freedom FAQ
Get answers to common questions about MiPACS compatibility, supported devices, integrations, and how to protect your existing technology investments.
What devices does MiPACS support?
MiPACS supports 200+ imaging devices from 50+ manufacturers. This includes intraoral sensors, panoramic and cephalometric units, CBCT systems, phosphor plate scanners, digital cameras, and third-party 3D viewers.
Do we need to replace our existing imaging equipment?
No. MiPACS is designed to work with the equipment you already own. Most organizations can continue using their existing supported devices without replacing their imaging hardware.
What does vendor freedom mean?
Vendor freedom means you are not locked into one device manufacturer or proprietary image format. MiPACS uses open standards, allowing you to mix devices from different vendors and add new equipment as your organization grows.
Can MiPACS integrate with our EHR or practice management system?
Yes. MiPACS integrates with leading EHR and practice management systems, including Epic, Dentrix Enterprise, axiUm, Titanium Solutions, eClinicalWorks, Cerner, OpenDental, and others. It supports patient context sharing, demographic synchronization, and single sign-on (SSO).
Does MiPACS support cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployments?
Yes. MiPACS supports cloud, on-premises, and hybrid deployment models. It also works with existing IT environments, including Active Directory, LDAP, VMware, Citrix, and Terminal Services.
Is MiPACS DICOM compliant?
Yes. MiPACS is fully DICOM 3.0 and DICOMweb compliant. Images are stored in standard DICOM format, helping you maintain interoperability and ownership of your imaging data.
What if my imaging device is not listed?
Even if your device is not on the published compatibility list, it may still be supported. The MiPACS team can review your equipment and confirm compatibility before deployment.
Can MiPACS scale as our organization grows?
Yes. MiPACS is built to scale from a single clinic to large enterprise organizations. You can add new locations, devices, and users.
